GET MOTIVATED WITH DPM PERFORMANCE blog ed 17

Today I'm going to take you back about 250 odd years.

I am sure that most of you would have heard of Ralph Waldo Emerson, even if you may not be familiar with his poetry (I put my hand up here), but I have read some of his quotes that I like. This is one of them:

"Whatever course you decide upon, there is always someone to tell you that you are wrong. There are always difficulties arising which tempt you to believe that your critics are right. To map out a course of action and follow it to an end requires...courage".

The key here team, is to not be a sheep. Don't follow the crowd. After all, where does the crowd lead you?

Normally to the wrong place.

If it was for following the crowd, I might have had a crisis after turning 30 rather than enjoying doing so...

I might have taken up smoking during the teenage years when the other blokes were having a puff while enjoying a few cans...

You may not have ended up taking the career path that you decided to pursue. Chances are if you are reading this you are pursuing it successfully.

Don't listen to the knockers.

Too many people want to bring you down to their miserable level.

Let them stay there.

I enjoy passing them on the stairs of life.

MY 2 CENTS WORTH

This is an article I wrote last week after witnessing some interesting scenes at a gym I train clients at.

FAT LOSS? FAT CHANCE!

While in the gym recently, I saw two fatal mistakes, within five minutes, which will definitely slow your quest for fat loss.

Mistake # 1: Lifting small weights.
The only excuse you have to lift small is if you are rehabbing an injury. Too many times I see people, sorry ladies but you’re the main offenders, lifting a weight that will barely raise a sweat and doing endless repetitions because they don’t want to ‘bulk up’.

This is going to have ZERO fat loss benefits.

You want optimum fat loss results? Lift heavy. Pick a challenging weight for you and do only 8-10 repetitions. You too ladies. No, you won’t get big muscles from this. Your body does not produce enough testosterone for this to happen.

Mistake # 2: Sitting on an exercise bike reading a book (or any machine for that matter).
To top things off, this person was barely turning their legs over. You may get some stress relief from being out of the office but that’s about all. Sorry to burst your bubble.

You want optimum fat loss results? Aerobic training is dead. Read it again if you must. Put the blowtorch on your metabolism and do some interval training. Try high intensity intervals for 10-60 seconds then back off and go easy for a longer period of time.

The end result is maximum fat loss and the body you want and deserve!

Dare to be different.

Get out and make it a great week!

What's your excuse?

Fire UP!
