GET MOTIVATED WITH DPM PERFORMANCE blog ed 15

Last night I was doing a bit of channel surfing during ad breaks on the cricket and noticed a bit of the new So You Think You Can Dance Australia. I must confess I did get into it a bit and left the cricket for a while.

While, I'm not normally a fan of the dance - although my mates would say I used to do a pretty good VB shuffle back in the day - it caught my eye that the top 100 was really seperated into 2 distinct groups.

The interesting thing is it resembles the normal situations we come across in everyday life. There are always 2 sets of people.

The people in the first group were the people who when they had their shot at the big time they choked. Sure everyone would've been nervous no doubt, but they really got spooked by the big occasion.

The biggest thing that got me though was that everyone in this group made an excuse why they failed to deliver. Not that they just stuffed up, but there's this happening, blah blah blah.

The second group were the people who stepped up to the plate and nailed it. These people would've waited all of their lives for this one shot at becoming a star. They dug deep and lifted when it counted.

The big difference between the 2 groups - 1 made excuses, the other didn't.
This is the same in the game of life - you have the excuse makers who get nowhere and the doers that get wherever they want AND don't make excuses on their way there.

What group are you in?

The other take home point I got from that show was something that one of the judges - Jason Coleman said - "Life isn't about what you've got to lose. Life is about what you've got to gain".
Pretty awesome words hey?

Don't get spooked by the possibility of achieving something that may take you out of your comfort zone. Aim high and put in the hard yards.

FOOD FOR THOUGHT

I love getting stuck into my nuts as a healthy snack. Here's another great reason why they should be on your desk right now!

Eat This to Crack Down on DiabetesBy Kelley Herring
Nutritionists have long praised nuts as a superfood, thanks to their healthy fats, high protein content, and mineral riches. And a new study published in Diabetes Care shows they're helpful for diabetics, too.
In the study, diabetic patients were assigned to one of three different diets - a low-fat diet, a modified low-fat diet, or a modified low-fat diet that included an ounce of walnuts per day. After six months, the participants on the walnut diet had a greater increase in their HDL-to-total cholesterol ratio than the other groups, as well as a 10 percent reduction in their LDL cholesterol.
Because having diabetes greatly increases the risk for heart disease and stroke, keeping cholesterol levels in check is particularly important for diabetics.
To get the benefits, enjoy an ounce of walnuts a day (about 10 halves). Try walnuts chopped and added to salads, mixed into your morning cereal, or right out of the shell.

So I hope you can take on board my observations from a tv show - whoever thought I would've left watching a tv show about dancing feeling enriched and motivated?

Now it's your turn to get out and make it a great week!

What's your excuse?

Fire UP!
